Welcome to the NESPRS Website!
We would like to introduce you to NESPRS, a small, informal group of collectors having their main interest in the shellac period of recorded sound. But that does not mean we are limited to that. NESPRS welcomes all manner of recorded interests, including the technologies of recording as well as playback and transfers.
At present NESPRS numbers about 27 members scattered throughout four New England states. This includes some couples. The organization is not chartered.
Presently, we meet four times each year (2006 schedule). Each fall the members
vote on the venues for the upcoming year. In 2006 we will meet three times in Maine and once in New Hampshire.
Dues are $10 a year per family. This covers mailing costs and the purchasing of books for the NESPRS library.
The NESPRS meetings, which usually start at noon, consist of the first two hours of socializing when members can chat while others may wish to participate in the buying, selling, and swapping of records. Some members bring crates of records for that purpose. A business meeting begins at 2:00 PM followed by a club program lasting for 30 to 45 minutes. After a short break, there is an auction where each member is allowed to offer up to ten items of NESPRS interest. The meeting ends around 4:30. Many members usually stay after the meeting to dine locally if desired.
